Anyone interested in blended learning; especially at the K-12 level? Are you confused about what it is or how to implement it? Do you just want to start a conversation about it in your school or work setting? If so, you are in luck.
PBS Southwest Ohio
(Cincinnati) (known as “CET") drover over to visit me three months ago as part of their project on blended learning. They spent a couple of hours interviewing me about different aspects of blended learning. They interviewed me since they had heard of the Handbook of Blended Learning: Global Perspectives, Local Designs, which I had co-edited with Dr. Charles Graham a decade earlier. We used the IST Studio
in the Indiana University School of Education which had a green screen. and was just a few short steps from my office As always, only a small portion of the interview ended up in the final product. And, as hoped, the final product is pretty darn good.
Two short videos from their interviews on blended
learning in K-12 schools were published on the Web last week and are free to use. Yes FREE to use. These videos are listed below. I appear 5 times in the first one (at the start and end and 3 times in between), but not in the second one. I think the end of the first one is pretty good. They did a great job, overall, and even took out my Midwest twang. I always like when that happens.

See what you think. Perhaps there might be many alternative uses of these videos, including 1. Teacher workshop reflections, 2. Blended learning primers, 3. Parent education on blended learning; 4. Strategic planning for blended; 5. Comparison of blended learning models and ideas; 6. Useful supplemental materials for courses on online learning, 7. Blended learning cases and demonstration material; 8. Discussion starters for new blended learning initiatives or class activities; 9. A chance to hear from blended learning experts; and 10. An opportunity for student teachers and practitioners to see real world classrooms.
Ok,. that is 10 quick ideas off the top of my head in just a few minutes. You might spend an afternoon or an entire day coming up with many many more ideas of how to use these videos. If you do, please share them with me. Sidenote: Back in 2010, I created 27 videos on how to teach online which are free to the world to download, remix, and share. Three of these videos address blended learning. Perhaps you will find something in one of them as well. They are more targeted at the higher education level.
Enjoy your blended learning quests. May each day be a blended one.
